I've worked in education since 1995 and have been teaching third grade since 2004.
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Masters In Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I've also earned National Board Certification, which might have been more stressful than the university degrees. At least that's how my husband remembers it... Long before I became a passionate educator, I was the youngest "skipper" at Camp Maplehurst. I spent my childhood summers messing about with small sailing dinghies. Some 4,000 nm later, it's clear to me that much of what we become as adults is shaped so very strongly by who were as eight year olds. Students are often very interested in our sailboat so I've included an Il Giro slideshow to share with the curious. |
